American actress Nia Peeples moved with her family to West Covina (California), where she grew up with her sisters Paula and Cynthia. Her father is artist Robert Eugene Peeples who comes originally from Mississippi and is of Scottish, Irish, English, Native American and Italian ancestry. Her mother is flamenco dancer Elizabeth Joan (née Rubic) who is of Filipino, German and Spanish descent. Her maternal grandparents were immigrants from the Philippines.

She studied as "A" student at the West Covina High School in California. She played the role of Bloody Mary in the school production "South Pacific" and performed as Liberace's opening act in Las Vegas on weekends. She studied with a music scholarship at the UCLA (University of California Los Angeles). She stopped at the UCLA after one semester and took three jobs in order to afford acting lessons. She studied singing under Gloria Rush and learned the Sanford Meisner acting technique at the Playhouse West. She practices sports as hiking, tandem surfing, rollerblading and skiing.

She started an relation with actor Guy Ecker in 1984, who she married on 26-05-1984. Their marriage lasts until they divorce in 1986. She started an relation with actor Carlo Imperato in 1986 who was her co-star in the movie ''Fame'' (1982) and their relation lasts for an year until they seperate in 1987. She started an relation with former lead vocalist Howard Hewett of the R&B group Shalamar in 1988. The couple married in may 1989 and their marriage lasts until they divorced in 1993. They have one son Cristopher Eugene Howard Hewett who was born on 19-06-1989. She married with movie director/producer Lauro Chartrand on 22-11-1997 and their marriage lasts until they divorce in june 2004. The couple have a daughter named Sienna Noelle Peeples Chartrand who was born on 11-11-1998. She married with Sam George in 2004 and their relation lasts until 11 august, 2015. She currently lives together with her children Christopher and Sienna in her beach home in Malibu (California).

She gets Tang Soo Do lessons from the best martial arts names as sensei Fumio Demura, sensei Tom Bloom and course the man with six black belts the legendary Chuck Norris. She has martial arts talents and Bruce Fontaine gave her wushu lessons.

She was mentor at the 2nd annual HatcH audiovisual festival in Bozeman (Montana) in october 2005. HatcH is a film and arts festival whose mission is to provide mentorship, education, inspiration and give recognition to the next generation of creative innovators. She was nominated for the Image Award for ''Outstanding Actress in a Daytime'' at the Image Awards in 2009. She was host at the short-lived American version of Top of the Pops and was also host at the weeknight dance music program called The Party Machine with Nia Peeples. She runs a website organization called Elements of Life who promotes fitness, inspiration, healthy lifestyle changes and emotional well-being.

Action Movie Career

She made her action movie debut as waitress in one episode of the action TV series ''Hardcastle and McCormick'' (1983) and played Maria Dominguez in one episode of the action TV series ''T.J. Hooker'' (1982 - 1986). 

She plays Kiani next to Matt Adler who plays the lead role as Rick Kane in ''North Shore'' (1987). Rick is on summer vacation in Hawaii before he starts at the art school next autumn. His stays causes some starting problems because he doesn't know anything about the local habits. He stays at the house of guru Chandler (played by Gregory Harrison) who teaches him the difference between 'soul surfers' and those who surf for fame and money.

She plays Scarpelli in this story about the crew of the experimental underwater nuclear base ''DeepStar Six'', who just have discovered that a new and deadly alien menace lives at the bottom of the ocean in ''DeepStar Six'' (1989). They are forced to struggle for their lives when the alien creatures try to destroy their base.

She plays Serena Cruz in 13 episodes of the action TV series ''Nasty Boys'' (1989 - 1990) and played Nefertiri in one episode of the action TV series ''Highlander'' (1994).

She plays Allie Thompson next to Esai Morales who plays the lead role as Tony Archer in ''Deadlocked: Escape from Zone 14'' (1995). Tony is sentenced for a murder he didn't commit. Policeman Jack Claremont (played by Stephen McHattie) promises him his freedom if he can find Allie in the prison. He finds Allie and they join forces in order to escape from prison.

She plays Lt. Elizondo in this story about Elwood Blues (played by Dan Aykroyd) who's the only "Blues Brother" who finally is released from prison in ''Blues Brothers 2000'' (1998). He's enlisted again by Sister Mary Stigmata (played by Kathleen Freeman) in her latest crusade to raise funds for a children's hospital. He helps a young orphan and a strip club bartender in his new "mission from God". He is soon pursued by cops, the Russian Mafia and a militia group.

She plays Sydney Cooke in 47 episodes of the action TV series ''Walker, Texas Ranger'' (1999 - 2001). Martial arts expert Cordell Walker (played by Chuck Norris) and his partner James Trivette (played by Clarence Gilyard) are Texas Rangers. They battle against crime in Dallas and all around the State of Texas.

She plays Rox Nava in one episode of the action TV series ''Andromeda'' (2000 - 2005) and played Sandra Prestiss in two episodes of the action TV series ''The Division (2001 - 2004)''.

She is the star of "Meet the Changs" in a TV pilot about the mystical story of a Chinese family in ''The Chang Family Saves the World'' (2002).

She plays 49er Six next to Steven Seagal who plays the lead role as Sasha Petrosevitch in ''Half Past Dead'' (2002). A criminal mastermind has the plan to infiltrate in a high tech prison in order to persuade a death row inmate to reveal the whereabouts of $200 million worth of gold. FBI agent Sasha goes undercover in the prison in order to stop the criminal before it's too late.

She plays Kelli Paris in this story where Russian terrorists are stealing a device that controls a powerful Russian-made satellite weapon in ''Sub Zero'' (2005). The terrorists escape to the top of K2 and the device is still active. A group of soldiers and technicians get the assignment to bring the device back, only it's winter and it'll be difficult to climb K2. Some of the best mountain climbers in the world are recruited in order to bring the crew to the top of K2.

She plays Amanda next to Anthony 'Treach' Criss who plays the lead role as Connors in ''Connors' War'' (2006). A blinded ex special agent gets his sight back by a special serum. He gets the assignment to stop a nuke who is hidden somewhere in the city.

She plays Capt. Karla Smaith in this story about Us forces who attack an unidentified flying object above Los Angeles in February 1942 in ''Battle of Los Angeles'' (2011). The alien invaders return to earth now almost 70 years later.
